box o joe

box-of-joe.bmpTypically on Fridays someone at work brings in one of those large coffee boxes from Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks.  These are different from your standard coffee carafe which typically keeps your coffee hot for an a few hours.  The problem with the box o joe from Dunkin and Starbucks is they don’t do a great job at keeping them warm.  Typically the coffee is cold after 30 mins.  Im not sure if the problem is getting an better insulator or perhaps its just a cost issue.  Why would they spend extra money to create a free disposable container. My idea would be to make the box microwavable so people can still enjoy their later in the day even if it had been sitting out all day.  The bladder system inside the box seems to be made out of plastic but im sure finding a suitable substitute wont be too hard.  Maybe the people at Starbucks want their coffee to go cold so they can sell more coffee J
