reuse water

This tip has probably been rehashed a million times on water conservation websites but why don’t more people use their dehumidifyer and natural rain to store water for watering lawns or washing cars, etc. ; The idea seems pretty simple and with so many towns putting water consumption limits in the hot summer months it would be such an easy solution. This little used technique could help save on some water costs but would be great for the environment as we keep our lawns healthy, water levels at appropriate levels while reducing resources used in the process of cleaning and pumping out water to our communities.

I have tried searching around for an out of the box end to end home solution and have yet to find one. With a dehumifiying system and a system for collecting natural rain fall, water could be stored in a large water tank to be used at a later time to either water your lawn, wash your car or powerwash your deck. There could be a large up front cost for the tank and water pump which may not be offset by cost savings over time.
