Beijing, China.

I just got back from a great trip to Beijing, China. The main reason for going there was to deliver a presentation to a group of clients and consultants for my MBA program at Boston College. When we weren’t working, we spent a bulk of time exploring this city and many of the historical tourist attractions. Beijing is a mix of old and new. The city is very rich with historic buildings, temples and authentic Chinese neighborhoods. But there is definitely lots of modernization happening, especially as the Olympics approach this summer. The city is spending lots of money upgrading its infrastructure such as highways and subways, as the city is often very busy and overwhelming from the sheer amount of people. The city is extremely safe as the police don’t even carry firearms. The only negative aspect is the air quality is so poor and often casts a musty cloud over this beautiful city all day long.

From a incubakers perspective, this city is being blessed with new innovative designs. As the city builds new structures, they have focused on creating memorable pieces for the whole world to enjoy. I had the opportunity to see these three buildings being built, with their size and beauty starting to shine through. It should be amazing to see how these look in a few months. Here are the artist renditions. (my pics don’t do the buildings justice)

CCTV - which is the national television station for China. (new headquarters)
