new things: washer/dryer & magnetic tacks

26Feb08

I would like to share some neat new products that I have come across last week. These may not be new innovations but I personally have never heard of them and think they are absolutely great!

Washer/Dryer Combo
washer-dryer.jpgYou are probably used to washing your clothes then moving them to the dryer… Not anymore, this product from LG combines the washer dryer into one machine (not a stacked unit either). You put all your dirty clothes and detergent in the unit; Set it and forget it. The machine goes through the wash cycle then immediately turns into a dryer and booyea! Clothes all clean now. This cutting edge appliance requires less energy and water, eliminates the need for venting (condensing dryer), all while creating more space in your home or apartment. The unit is very expensive but it may worth it since you aren’t buying 2 machines anymore. I wonder where you put the dryer sheets?

OXO Magtack
next-design2_0.jpgThis is a neat little product that I came across from OXO. It is basically a tack but with magnets that sandwich your hanging item on a wall. Typically, you would take a picture and push a pin through to hang it. This tack lets you preserve your photo but doesn’t poke a permanent hole it… The picture speaks for itself. Very cool.

    Totally agree - great inventions!

But i have to tell you, the washer/dryer has been invented over 50 years now. I think the first one was in 1954 by GE.
Definitely an excellent invention though and very popular for small apartments or for rentals. However they aren’t as effective as the individual appliances(to be expected), e.g they’re known to not completely dry your clothes.
They really make sense for saving space and energy!

    p.s. Love the oxo magtack!
