BarberShop

barber-pole.jpgSo I was talking with my roommate and we got on the discussion of haircuts.  For most guys who cut their hair short, it’s usually a 3-4 week period before we get trimmed up again.  Even the cheapest places like Supercuts are $15 bucks or so, and we are used to paying on average $30 for a haircut from other local shops.  But what if barbershops / salons became like gyms and have memberships.  You can walk in and show your member card, sit down for the next open chair and then you’re done.  For you and me, we can basically stop in whenever we want and get trimmed up.  Maybe you have a hot date, or interview the next day, or perhaps you just want to stay sharp for the weekend.  For the hair cutter, you have a predictable stream of revenue; member community that can help spread the word and being able to build good relationships.  We have seen this strategic approach work for gyms, movies, yoga/dance studios… If given the right price point, it makes sense.  If I am paying $30 for one haircut, what difference would it make to pay $50 a month for all the haircuts I want.
