Espresso booth

23May08

The problem: I am an espresso drinker. Nothing makes me happier than a perfect espresso. But having to wait 10 minutes for an espresso is not something I am interested in doing in between classes. Additionally I want my espresso transaction to be quick, I give a dollar and I get an espresso, no confusion. I take the shot and I get on with my day. This isn’t a casual lets drink and chat, this is I want that wonderful espresso juice in me, now. On campus the lines for dunkin donuts and starbucks are about 15 people deep at any given time between classes.

The idea: A small portable booth that sells just espresso, 1 dollar a cup no questions, no fuss. The little booth could locate itself on a college campus or business center and drive revenue with low margins but high sales. Very low fixed costs, make this idea even more appealing. This could even be tied in with the captive subway audience I mentioned before, selling shots of espresso on subway cars!
