We (the folks at Incubaker) are opening up our tank of ideas to the public through this blog. Let me give you a quick background first…So about 3 years ago Thianh and I (Dave) worked together at a tech firm in sunny California. During this time, while working side by side in an office, we would fire off random ideas about new products, services etc. After a failed attempt to launch a flavored butter company, we took a stab at another idea, called Eyalo - an online resume platform. Due to our lack of technical skills and the physical distance between our team the idea slowly fell apart. That is not to say we each didn’t gain something. We learned the importance focusing an idea, the infectious enthusiasm a new idea can bring, and how important a team is.

It couldn’t have been more then a couple weeks after Eyalo died that I sent Thianh another email. What I realized is collaboration leads to greater results and the importantance of bringing diverse individuals together to achieve common goals. This is the basic principle behind the incuTANK. Everyone has a certain skill that they bring to the table and through incubation we create an even greater idea. At first it was just Thianh and I emailing back ideas to each other while giving feedback and fine tuning the ideas. Not long after I asked a great friend of mine Rob to join the team. We got a functional bulletin board site up so we could track and organize all of our topics and we posted casually any ideas we had, and always gave feedback on other ideas. After 1 year we had invited two more members and saw a lot of growth in the tank, with over 800 posts and the launch of snapInput. Between school and work we didn’t have time to execute as many ideas as we had wanted but we still found a lot of value in the ideas themselves.

We decided that some of our ideas and discussions would be great for a fun and hopefully insightful read. Thus, the birth of the IncuTank. In IncuTank we will be posting new product and service ideas, as well as ideas/thoughts for positive social and environmental change. We go into a little more detail of our goals for this blog in the first post. For investing ideas check out our sister site, incuFUND. If you would like to get feedback for an idea or would just like to post something to our Tank, please let us know, we love sharing knowledge even if we didn’t come up with it. See you in the TANK :)
